Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it – and a merry day off to those who do not.
And as you celebrate, we urge only that you do it with taste. Avoid the fate of the Louisiana family with an “extravagant array of lights and lighted figures,” accompanied by loudspeakers blaring music for all passersby. Their house became such an attraction that it caused traffic jams, required the sheriff to dedicate manpower to direct traffic, and locked the neighbors in their house due to their inability to exit their driveways. What started with enjoying the season ended with years of litigation up to the state Supreme Court and back.
So it is with goodwill to all that we wish you a peaceful time this week.
